ACADEMY TRUST MERGER TO BENEFIT PUPILS AND STAFF
The Department for Education and the trusts’ Boards of Directors have approved the merger of the Hastings Academies Trust and University of Brighton Academies Trust bringing together the two trusts sponsored by the University of Brighton.
Pound Hill Infant Academy will continue to be part of the University of Brighton Academies Trust: a network of 15 academies with 1,200 staff and 7,500 students across Sussex.
Professor Chris Pole, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of Brighton and Chair of the University of Brighton Academies Trust said: “The University is delighted to be supporting the merged trust in this exciting new stage in its development. Following many years of close joint working, I am confident that the merged trust will capitalise on its strengths to maximise school improvement capacity and share best practice in teaching and learning for the benefit of our pupils and staff.”
Dr John Smith, Chief Executive of the University of Brighton Academies Trust said: “Our network of academies all support each other – and our pupils – to excel. We believe that education transforms lives, and I am certain that the merger will increase the trust’s ability to ensure that our pupils are inspired to meet their potential and develop a passion for life-long learning.”
