Holmbush Primary Academy Celebrates Festive Season with Heartwarming Community Initiatives

Holmbush Primary Academy's pupils and staff have come together to create memorable moments and spread joy while giving back to the community. This holiday season has seen the academy engage in various festive activities, all aimed at making a positive impact on those in need.

Reindeer Run Raises Over £1100 for St Catherine's Hospice

In the spirit of giving, Holmbush Primary Academy organised a spirited Reindeer Run to raise funds for St Catherine's Hospice, a cause close to the hearts of many at the academy. The event was a roaring success, with children enthusiastically navigating a fun course set up in the hall by the newly-formed Holmbush Charity Crew, a dynamic duo of dedicated teachers. Through their efforts and the overwhelming support of pupils and their families, the academy managed to raise an impressive £1126 for St Catherine's Hospice, providing crucial support for the compassionate end-of-life care they offer.

Penny Post Spreads Cheer and Supports Local Food Bank

Holmbush's unique Penny Post initiative added an extra touch of warmth to the season. Pupils utilised the special Christmas Post Box to send heartfelt cards to their friends and classmates. With each card costing 1p for delivery, the funds collected were channeled towards a wonderful cause — supporting the local Food Bank. The 'Year 6 post people' played an essential role in sorting and hand-delivering the cards, fostering a sense of community spirit. The initiative not only promoted the joy of giving but also raised £55 to purchase food for those in need, a testament to the academy's commitment to making a positive impact beyond its walls.

Festive Forest PTFA Event Raises £1600 for School Enhancements

Taking fundraising to new heights, the Parent-Teacher Friends Association (PTFA) at Holmbush Primary Academy organised a magical event in the academy's own forest. The 'Festive Forest' event welcomed pupils to a winter wonderland where they followed a sparkling light trail, created their own reindeer food, and had a delightful storytime with Mrs. Claus. The highlight of the evening was the chance for children to meet Santa himself and receive a special gift.

In addition to the enchanting festivities, the PTFA organised various activities, including a gift selection room where children could choose and wrap presents for their loved ones independently. The event, which also featured tombolas, raffles, naming a teddy, and engaging games, successfully raised an impressive £1600. These funds will be reinvested into the school's forest area for further development and will contribute to the renovation of an outbuilding into a new sensory/group room, enhancing the learning environment for all pupils at Holmbush.

This festive season, Holmbush Primary Academy has not only celebrated the magic of Christmas but has also demonstrated the power of community, generosity, and compassion. As the year draws to a close, the academy looks forward to continuing its tradition of making a positive impact in the lives of others and nurturing a spirit of kindness and giving among its pupils.
